Biblioteca Pública de Porto Alegre
The interior of Porto Alegre's Public Library/22
Its construction started in 1912 and both its façade and its interior were greatly influenced by August Comte's Positivist Thought. The façade has a neoclassic style and it is adorned by busts of Positivism representatives. At the entrance the main door is made of wood and it is framed by golden plaster and has a marble step-stone. In Empire style, the Reading Room preserves the wall's original paintings. In the other rooms there are other styles such as rococo, egyptian, gothic and Florentino. The building inauguration was part of the 100 years cellebration of Brazil's independence on September 7th, 1922.
